Looking ahead

We've been trimming a lot of trees this winter
As the winter and spring do their normal match of sun and rain, warmth and cool weather, we play along and try to execute all planned tasks according to the weather. We try to be ecofriendly, and compost and use the tree trimmings for firewood.  So in the dry days we have cleaned the garden, trimming trees, powerwashing patios and lawnchairs.  One particular day the old iron of various origins was taken to recycling and the non-composted and non-choppable garden waste was taken away.  It is amazing the space it seemed we gained! And it is amazing the things you accumulate.

So now we have more space and more firewood, which we unfortunately still need (I am ready for spring). And we have more space for our planned parking area.  We normally park our cars in the street, but some times in the summer we need  more space, so we have dedicated the end of the property for that purpose.  It is where we also have lockable space for guest dogs,  bicycles and motorcycles. But the area still needs some work.  During the next dry days we will add onto the fence and do some leveling work.

This is a December morning by the Moorish castle.

Meanwhile we will be leveling elesewhere, too, for easier mobility and a few less steps.  And for nicer landscaping.  We will be making a small ramp from the gate to the road for any lower cars, painting garden walls, and organizing space in the storage; trimming trees and recovering the new-found wisterias!  I will also finish my trail-tracking: I have been walking around the mountain checking the paths that have been opened and marked to be better able to suggest them to our guests.  All this as we have great plans for the summer season!

And this is another winter morning with the famous mist up the mountain
So more inside the property parking will not be the only new thing at Casa do Valle and Casa da Vista.  We will continue with a wellness theme, including some exercise opportunities and healthy breakfast options, as well as massages. Our guests will also have a chance to book a sauna to relax those muscles, and even book a package called Active Break including surf lessons and/or bike rentals. The Romantic - and Spoil Yourself packages will also continue as they are so popular! And we will continue with the afternoon tea and cakes as soon as weather allows.

This winter has been a great time for reflection of what we want to do.  I went to several Tourism fairs in different countries and read about the tendencies.  Our two sites will soon be together as one, we have added a Booking Button with a tablet friendly soft ware, and we have read the reviews and picked up on those things that are most positive - and learned from those that were not so positive.  All and all it has been a busy slow season, and it still continues, weather allowing!
